Towards Comprehensive Cervical Cancer Prevention and Control

  Background and Objectives:

To strengthen national capacity for informed public health decision making regarding the introduction of HPV vaccines within a framework of comprehensive cervical cancer prevention and control, including screening and treatment.

 Specific objectives

 To provide global and regional updates on the epidemiology of HPV infections and HPV-associated disease, including cervical cancer

  • To review current challenges and future perspectives regarding secondary prevention of cervical cancer, including modalities for the monitoring and evaluation of HPV vaccine impact in Latin America and the Caribbean
  • To provide updated technical information on HPV vaccines
  • To identify and discuss current challenges and opportunities when considering HPV vaccine delivery within existing health structures
  • To discuss the specific items of evidence required for informed decision making at the national level and define appropriate strategies and plans for generating such evidence

 Venue:

 The meeting will be held 12-13 May, 2008 at the Sheraton Maria Isabel at Paseo de la Reforma  # 325, in Mexico City, Mexico

 Participants:

 The target audience includes policymakers, national public health and financial authorities, national immunization program managers, members of pediatric and infectious disease societies, scientists, researchers, representatives of bilateral and multilateral development and financial agencies, and other partners involved in supporting immunization programs.
